FAQ

Quick answers about donating, volunteering, and how we help dogs safely and responsibly.

    About Us

    Who is Feeding Perris Strays?
Feeding Perris Strays is a volunteer-led community in Perris, California. With about 12 volunteers and trusted rescue partners, we support 100+ animals through consistent feeding routes, rescue coordination, and access to medical and spay/neuter resources.
    What area do you serve?
We primarily serve Perris and surrounding areas. If you’re outside the area, contact us and we’ll do our best to connect you with local resources.
Are you a nonprofit, and are donations tax-deductible?
We’re transitioning into a nonprofit organization so this work can continue in a sustainable, structured, and compassionate way. At this time, we are not yet a 501(c)(3), so contributions are currently not tax-deductible.

    Rescue & Support

What do you do (besides feeding)?
Feeding is only one part of the work. We also coordinate rescue support with established partners, help with humane trapping when needed (through experienced partners), support spay/neuter efforts, and connect dogs to foster homes, medical care, and reputable rescues whenever possible.
Do you have a shelter or facility?
No. We’re a volunteer-led, foster-and-partner-based effort. We do not operate a shelter, and we can’t intake dogs on demand.
Can you take in a dog I found?
Sometimes—but only if we can do it safely and responsibly. Most rescues require a foster plan and rescue partner coordination. If you found a dog, contact us with the location (cross streets), clear photos or video, behavior notes, and any immediate safety concerns.
What should I do if a dog is injured or in immediate danger?
If a dog is injured, trapped, hit by a car, or in immediate danger, contact local animal control or emergency services first. After that, message us—if we’re able to, we’ll help coordinate support and next steps.
Why can’t you rescue every dog you see?
Safe rescue takes more than good intentions—it requires foster homes, rescue partnerships, medical care, and sometimes humane trapping. Taking on more than we can responsibly support can put animals and volunteers at risk, so we prioritize cases where we can act safely and sustainably.
How do you decide which dogs to help first?
We prioritize urgent need and safety, including injury or immediate danger, pregnant dogs and puppies at high risk, dogs we’ve been tracking on our routes, and cases where a foster or rescue partner is available.
    Do you provide spay/neuter support?
Yes. We actively support spay/neuter efforts because it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent suffering. When resources and scheduling allow, we also coordinate outreach for dogs living in homeless encampments. Upcoming dates are posted on our News & Events page.

    Get Involved

What’s the best way to help right now?
Donating supplies, contributing via Donate, volunteering, and sharing our posts all make a big impact. If you can foster, that’s one of the biggest ways you can help us say “yes” when a dog needs urgent placement.
    How can I volunteer?
We welcome volunteers with different schedules and comfort levels. Visit our Volunteer page or email info@feedingperrisstrays.org to get started.

No. We provide guidance and prioritize safety. We’ll match you with a role that fits your comfort level and availability.
    How can I foster?
Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to help. Apply on our Foster page, and we’ll follow up about fit, timing, and support.
How can I adopt a dog?
