Who We Are
We’re a volunteer-led community in Perris helping stray dogs through consistent feeding, coordinated rescue, and access to medical and spay/neuter support.
Feeding Perris Strays is powered by about 12 volunteers and a strong network of rescue partners, fosters, and community supporters. Together, we help feed over 100 animals while working to get dogs vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and placed into safe foster homes and reputable rescues whenever possible.
We also support low-income pet owners and community members caring for strays by sharing resources, supplies, and guidance—because helping dogs means helping the people who are trying to do right by them.
Responsible rescue takes more than good intentions. It requires safe foster placement, rescue partnerships, medical care, and sometimes humane trapping. We coordinate these steps with experienced rescue partners so dogs can move from survival to safety.
We also visit homeless encampments to provide food, supplies, and basic care for dogs living with unhoused individuals. Every dog—no matter where they are—deserves to feel safe, loved, and cared for.
Our Story
Feeding Perris Strays began quietly in 2023. After moving into a home in the area, our founders started noticing dogs living in nearby fields—sleeping under discarded furniture, wandering along busy roads, and doing their best to survive.
While driving along Cajalco Road, family members encountered a Border Collie and a Husky dragging a ripped harness. Instead of driving away, they stopped, bought canned food, and returned to feed them. That moment marked the beginning of what would become Feeding Perris Strays.
As the route continued, it became clear this was not a one-time situation. With help from Rover’s Return Dog Rescue, we humanely trapped our first foster dog. That dog later transferred to Westside German Shepherd Rescue and began the journey toward a safe adoption.
Throughout 2023, feeding dogs along Cajalco Road and nearby streets became a regular routine. Over time, the work expanded beyond feeding—coordinating urgent rescues when dogs were injured, pregnant, or in immediate danger, and building the foster-first approach that keeps rescues safe and humane.
Today, Feeding Perris Strays is transitioning into a nonprofit organization so this work can continue in a sustainable, structured, and compassionate way—supporting stray dogs and the community members who care for them.
We can always use more volunteers to help feed, transport, foster, or simply spread the word. The more hands we have, the more dogs we can reach, and the more lives we can save.
